Campus Book Rentals

Remember when I was in grad school and complained about it all the time on here?
That sucked.
But one of the best things about enrolling in school this time around as opposed to my young whipper snapper days was finding out that you can RENT your textbooks now.
I seriously saved so much money renting those big ole' books rather than forking out hundreds and hundreds of dollars for them.
Amazing.
One of my favorite companies to rent from was Campus Book Rentals.
They had great prices, free shipping, a huge selection and they donate to Operation Smile with every textbook you rent from them.
They've also recently started a new site Rent Back where students like you and me can rent our own textbooks out to others to make a little extra cash.
So we can buy more books (or beer).
I think they're pretty awesome and so does my wallet.
Check out a little bit more about them in the video below or by clicking here and remember to thank your lucky stars I'm done with grad school so you don't have to hear me bitch about it anymore every day...

Getting Good At Stuff - Working Out

So things have been trucking along here with working out.
My little extra daily workout is getting easier which is nice although my burpees are pretty embarrassing.
While at the gym on Saturday, Mike and I started talking about how just lifting weights with him wasn't cutting it.
I need to add exercises to cut through my fat rather than just building muscle like he does.
Especially on my badonk and thighs.
(Badonk sounds less abrasive than ass, yes?)
Lo and behold, when I got home from the gym that day, I had an offer waiting in my inbox to join Revolt and blog about it.
Revolt is an exercise and diet plan put together by this awesome woman who was sick of gaining and losing the weight after having her four kids and ending up "skinny fat" something I've always struggled with too (the skinny fat not the kids)
So she started kicking her own ass,  got super hot, and eventually got licensed and now has created this awesome program.
It's a pretty great program because it's all doable at home, no gym membership needed, it's realistic, and it's affordable.
I start Monday.
Urp.
I'm nervous.
But it should be great and I'm going to blog about it once a week on here to hold myself accountable and tell you guys how the program works.

**I will admit that since this is happening super short notice for me, I'm starting the diet a week off.  My sister comes Thursday and our plans all revolve around restaurants so...yeah.

But the workouts start tomorrow as scheduled.
Get ready to hear some whining and check out Revolt if you're interested in starting your own uprising!

March Goals

It's March!
When did that happen?
I'm hoping it finally being March means it will start getting warmer and busier around here.
Also, green stuff.

Since I'm unemployed (have I mentioned that?) and home alone all day with no car, I have become quite the lazy turd.
I decided to link up with Rima and Melissa to start setting monthly goals to get my lazy little booty moving.
Or, something, I don't know...let's see how it goes.
Here are my goals for March!

(1) is referring to the treadmill routine posted here that I have been doing at one level down on all the speeds and when I tried to do it at normal speed I couldn't finish because I have stub legs and I suck at running (8 is fast!!).
(2) Seriously, my body is screaming out for water.  Not cute.
(3) I have been spending WAY too much time in front of this computer and not enough reading.  I'm home alone all day, I should be reading books like a good little librarian's daughter (right mom?).
(4) Yeah....we'll see how that goes.

Wish me luck and happy March!

#scenesefrommyhome

Rain rain go away, but not these boots

Our new side table in the guest room

London tube shower curtain in the guest bathroom

Poster in the guest room that my mom bought us in Lodi during our wedding weekend

Our new owl friend in the bedroom (I can't turn down $5 owls...ever)

The booze.  We're out of gin.  I miss it.  That makes me sound sad.

Reason #529 Why I Love My Husband

When he wakes up in the middle of the night and realizes Gizmo is sleeping on the floor in his dog bed instead of in our bed, he wraps him up in a fuzzy blanket to keep him warm.
I never wake up because I'm a way deeper sleeper than him, but when I get up in the morning sometimes I find the blanket still there.
Warms my little heart.
Love that guy.

A Random Old Story

(Because I can't fill this blog with only Pinspiration posts and I don't have a lot going on right now)

Once upon a time when I was a flight attendant living in New Jersey and was single and, ahem, partying a lot I had a pretty funny encounter.  My girlfriends and I spent the night drinking and dancing at our favorite club Adega's where I met an older, bald, married dude. And by older I mean late 30's, 40's.  I was about 23 at this time so...that's older to me.  (I just didn't want you picturing an 80 year old or something...moving on)  Apparently at some point during the night this bald gentleman and I proceeded to inappropriately make out in the club.  I don't remember this happening.  I was told later.  And honestly, I wasn't surprised.  A couple vodka red bulls will do that to a girl.  The next day, I had to work the Newark to Boston shuttle in the front cabin of the plane.  I boarded the plane and started my day like every other day, albeit it a little hungover.  Since I was working the front cabin, it was one of my duties to greet passengers as they boarded.  And lo and behold, guess who boards my plane?  Older, bald, married dude.  Awkward.  I spent that entire flight trying to avoid the eye contact which he was desperately attempting to make.  This included ignoring him whilst doing the bev cart (thankfully I didn't have to serve him just stand in front of his row for an excruciatingly long time), ignoring him whilst collecting trash, and worst of all, ignoring him whilst sitting at the front cabin jump seat that faced the rest of the plane for take off and landing.  I sat there in my tights and blue polyester staring out into the plane and all I kept seeing the whole take off and landing was a little bald head constantly leaning over to look down the aisle into my cabin.  Needless to say, that was the longest 80 minutes of my life.

Get off my plane, buh bye.

Me as a flight attendant once upon a time

Me back in my Jersey/clubbing days.  I literally couldn't be more Jersey in this picture. Love it.

Two completely unrelated things I'm obsessed with today:
