What I Wore - Floral & Stripes

With our schedules and commuting, taking outfit photos has become pretty out of the question.  Also...I've been pretty lazy about it.  Except for the almost daily obnoxious selfies I take at work.  Not too lazy for those apparently!  Some days though, even if I'm too lazy to take my outfit photos, I really love my outfits and want to share them with you guys and pretend you care.  So here is what I wore yesterday.  Enjoy!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been searching for a floral pencil skirt for ages and find myself constantly eyeballing the ones at J.Crew.  Never having bought a skirt at J.Crew, I have no idea what my size is and I really don't want to shell out $60 and shipping and have the dang thing not fit and have to send it back.  So when I saw this one for sale at Forever21 for only $10, I jumped on it.  I felt pretty dern cute all day yesterday even when I realized I hadn't cut open the slit in the back and the string holding it together ripped when I was walking up some stairs.  Typical.

Insert Cliche Shades of Grey Title Here

Mike thought this outfit was too boring to photograph, but I really wanted an excuse to use a Shades of Grey reference.
Because every fashion blogger on the planet has worn grey and done that.
So here is mine.
Also, I really like his outfit.

For The Love of Post Earrings

I'm generally pretty damn behind on the trends.  I tend to wear whatever I want and then a couple months later I'll realize ohhh everyone is wearing boyfriend jeans?  Maybe I should get some!  BUT the trends are usually cheaper a couple months later so....win.  Following suit, I was pretty unaware of how effing cute post earrings were until watching Bridesmaids and dying over Kristin Wiig's character's style.  Since then, I haven't been able to get enough of this trend and thankfully, it's all over Etsy right now.  Here are some of the many pairs I've recently added to my wishlist.

Mini Arrowheads Stud Earrings - 4 Color Choices- Pastels - Hypoallergenic Surgical Stainless Steel Post Earrings

Stud Earrings, Boho

Pink Rose Stud Earrings, Love Gift, Mothers Day, Rose Stud Earings, Rose Earrings E327

Gold Love Knot Earrings, Small Gold Stud Earrings

Anchor earrings - Nautical jewelry - Navy blue stud earrings

Chestnut Leather Deathly Hallows Stud Earrings - Harry Potter - Surgical Stainless Steel Posts
(If you get what these earrings are, you're a giant nerd and I love you)

Mickey Mouse Stud Earrings - Handcrafted Polymer Clay Earrings - Disney Inspired Jewelry

Cute Orange and White Welsh Corgi Dog Stud Earrings - A14E84
(I am fully aware of how ridiculous these are)

Pale Peach - Gold Dipped Triangle Stud Earrings

What trend are you guys really into right now?

Pinspiration7

I really like the IDEA of this outfit.
The monotone, khaki, military vibe appeals to me.
But the styling doesn't do it for me; the bag, shoes, belt just don't work.
So here is how I would recreate this outfit affordably!

Except for the bag and shoes

Men's Summer Looks

I got a request from my favorite male follower (he's probably actually my only male follower, but he'd be my favorite regardless) to do some summer looks for men to help him buy and style some new shorts.
Now M, I know these looks might scare you at first, but I swear you can do this easily and the best part is that all the pieces can be used a multitude of ways (and I'm not going to suggest shorts THAT short, don't worry).
And you are correct, you are absolutely not allowed to buy cargo shorts!

Here is how you can recreate these looks and get a good jump start on your Spring/Summer wardrobe!

Stylish Little Cheat Day

I wore this outfit on Saturday for our diet cheat day (the best day of the week, thank you).
We started the day with this delicious one serving coffee cake recipe that Mike found and some bloody mary's.

vegan coffee muffin

We then ventured over to our first farmer's market since moving here (yay Spring!), where we grabbed some local beef, broccoli, and eggs.
We traveled over to Solomons Island and had lunch at our favorite little place CD Cafe and then walked over to Lotus Kitchen to grab some key lime pie for dessert that night.
We lost our sun unfortunately, but we stopped to take some outfit photos on the pier anyway.
I don't have an anecdote for the outfit, but it really was just a lovely, perfect little day.
And I felt pretty dern cute if I do say so myself.

And just for fun, one of our favorite houses on the Island.
I think the salty wind beaten paint is dreamy.

His Style

I barely leave the house during the week now that I'm unemployed and have no car.
So my outfits are not worth posting.
But this guy, he brings it daily.
So expect to see a little more of him...

Instagram Shops

I just recently became obsessed with a new thing on instagram - the clothing shops.
Did you know about this?
Probably, I'm usually super late to the game.
There are all these women on there selling vintage/thrift finds or re-selling their gently used clothing and it's amazeballs!
The grand puba of instagram shops is of course Karla Reed.
Have you seen her instagram account?  Ohhh the cute outfits.
Here's one of my faves:

Found here

She has an insanely popular instagram shop called Chic Thrifty.
Here pieces rock and they sell out in seconds.
Like this little number:

Here are some of my other favorite shops.
(Be prepared to get addicted to instagram shopping!)

(I got this one and it fits perfectly!)

From Vgtgyuyu
ModCloth for cheap!

Cynthia Rowley!!

Oh this necklace!!

What do you guys think about this new trend?

Red & Coral

I wore this outfit on Saturday for a day trip to the outlets and Annapolis for lunch with my dad and step-mom.
We were too lazy to bring our camera to the trip or to take outfit photos, but I loved the color combination so much, I wanted to blog about it anyways.

(I would have never paired these two colors before I started reading fashion blogs...)

Job Interview Outfit

I have a job interview next Thursday (URP) and I'm already stressing about what to wear.
If my pinterest closet was accessible (oh if a girl can dream!) this is what I would be wearing.
Check out the original collection on Beso here (seriously Beso, make your collections blogable already!)
The inspiration came from this outfit on Pinterest:

statement necklace + all black.

Since this job is somewhat in the fashion industry, I figure I could be a little different rather than just wearing a suit.
Here is my dream collection:

Coral is the New Red

I have officially lost my outfit picture taking mojo.
But I liked this outfit.
So here it is.
I also decided this outfit was kind of patriotic in honor of the fact that I wore it on inauguration day.
Coral polka dots is kind of like red right?

Duck toes are not attractive valerie, dammit!

Furry Bust

That blog title is a double entendre.
First, my bust was very furry today.
Second, today was a bust.
Har har.
But seriously.
We showed up at two historic touristy type places and both were inexplicably closed with no signs saying they were or why.
It was weird.
We had a super tasty lunch at this place though.
And this outfit, while furry and warm and busty (har har) has once and for all shown me that we need a full length mirror.
Cause, girl yo thighs look giant in this outfit.

YesStyle

The lovely Bolu by Rima reminded me with her blog post here of an online shop I recently discovered and lust after so many things on.
It's called Yesstyle and it's got more unique and cute sweaters than a weirdo like me could dream about.
Go check them out (and buy me some sweaters)!
Here are my favorite pieces right now:

(They don't just sell sweaters, but since moving to Maryland and realizing I have no winter clothes, I've been pretty obsessed with finding good sweaters)

Head on over to Yesstyle to check out these lovelies and much much more!
