Getting Good At Stuff - Taking Pictures

I'm not generally great at learning skills.  I don't have patience and I tend to get really frustrated really fast.  So when it comes to learning to properly use my Nikon D5100, I've decided to take it a couple functions at a time so I don't get bored and overwhelmed.  (I sound like a toddler don't I?)  Today, I focused on the ISO and F-stop functions.  AND I actually left my house!  Shoooock!  Since I've been unemployed, I don't leave the house by myself ever because I don't have a car and there isn't really anything to do within walking distance of our apartment (and I'm kind of lazy, yes?).  Today, I grabbed my camera and actually left the apartment to walk around and take some pictures.  I shot all of these in P mode.  I forget what that means, but it's what a photo blogger said to do haha.  I messed with the ISO/F-stop settings depending on what I was shooting (close-ups versus far away, etc)  I've got a lot of work to do, but I think these turned out pretty good for someone with the short attention span I have!

I absolutely love this tree.  It looks like it's made from ripped up paper.

I love the Maryland flag, I'm a new Marylander, but I can't get enough of it.

Brick wall outside my apartment...it kind of looks like cake...yum.

Looking down my street.  This picture hasn't had the saturation edited at all.  It's really that gorgeous here.

Your Typical Sunday

This, ladies and gentleman, is my husband spending his Sunday afternoon sitting in an ice bath, drinking beer, and reading Harry Potter.

Old nerds shouldn't try to play soccer.
This is what happens.
Ouch.
(Love you honey)

My Revolt Diary - Hitting A Wall

This week, I officially hit a wall with the Revolt diet.
I'm just 100% sick of eggs.  I can't look at 'em.  I can't eat 'em.  Can't do it.
So I started skipping breakfast and the snack this week.
Which is not good; not the point of diet.
Doing that in turn made me super sleepy and grouchy and caused me to cheat via sugar free cookies and wine.
Not the WORST cheating, but not great.
I love how easy Nichole's diet is to follow and prepare, but 5 weeks in, I'm definitely a little bored and need to change it up.
Mike and I are planning to continue in the vein of her diet:  low calories, low carbs, low sugar, high protein, clean eating, etc., but we're definitely going to have to change it up and add a little more flavor.
As much as eggs are better for me, I'm going back to Greek yogurt and granola for breakfast.
I do plan to stick with the fat free low sugar Greek yogurt she makes us eat and try to find the best granola I can (seriously, check your granola labels, they are FULL of sugar!), but egg whites, I quit you!

The workouts are still awesome, she kicks my ass every time.
120 pop squats on Thursday.
Eff that B.
No offense, Nichole.
:)
I have started adding my weight training with Mike back in and extra abs because I felt like I needed more definition on top of fat burning.
Here is the ab workout I'm working towards.
I say working towards because it is hard and I suck at it.

Ab Workout

I don't do the cardio part because Nichole's workouts already include this.
And...I'm lazy.

Mike and I really need to pick up running again now that the weather is gorgeous which will also give me an excuse to eat more calories.
Win win!

The moral of this rambly post is that I still am loving Revolt and I've learned a lot from it.
I normally would just whine and quit when I hit a wall, but this time I'm actually adapting and learning from it!
While I don't plan to follow the diet to a tee anymore, I do plan to implement a lot of her ideas and recipes into my every day life.
I honestly can't wait to adapt some of our favorite recipes to be more clean and sugar free.

And of course, if you want to learn more about Revolt, go here!

Free Glasses Giveaway From Firmoo!

Hey Guys!
I was contacted by Firmoo to let you all know about another crazy giveaway they are having.
Those guys just love to give away glasses!
I have always had a great experience working with Firmoo and I love their products.

Keep reading to find out how you can win some totally free glasses and of course, make sure to check out Firmoo for all your glasses needs!!

Don't think you need new glasses?
How long have you kept your current glasses?
I can bet for most of you the last time you bought a new pair of glasses is three years ago or longer.
It is highly suggested by professional ophthalmologists that you should have a yearly eye exam and replace your glasses regularly to ensure your eye health (my prescription changes all the time).
If your prescription has changed but you still wear the old prescription eyeglasses, you are in high-risk of deteriorating your vision.

So are you thinking about getting a pair of new glasses but worried it would cost you an arm and a leg? Head over to http://www.firmoo.com/z/blogger-crazy-giveaway.html and get your free glasses now!

Giveaway opens on April 16th and is first come, first served!
Additional pairs will be given away to people who share the giveaway page via Facebook and/or Twitter.
It's too easy to win, make sure you enter!

The Best Neighbor

If ever you're having a day where you're losing faith in humanity, just watch this video.
My husband, who is notoriously known to be a non-emotional robot, got pretty moved just telling me about it.
Watch it and try not to smile.

My Revolt Diary - A Healthy Breakfast Option

Hey All!
I'm still trucking along on Revolt, enjoying (aka wanting to die while doing them but enjoying the results nonetheless) the workouts and trying to stick to the diet.
I'm horrible at sticking to the diet...especially when there is a giant chocolate egg sitting in my fridge left over from Easter.
But it's still going great and I love the program.

This week I thought I'd share one of Nichole's recipes from the Revolt diet.
When you're on a low sugar, low carb, high protein diet like this one, you end up eating a LOT of egg whites.
Every breakfast includes them.
And I hate them.  Can't stand the texture.  Barf city.
So when we get recipes that use the egg whites instead of just eating them plain, I'm super happy.
Here is my favorite, the power pancakes:

For my diet which is the lowest calorie intake I use:
4 egg whites
.5 cup old fashioned oats
a splash of pure vanilla extract
a pinch of salt
cinnamon to taste

Blend that all together and then cook them up like pancakes.
(Don't bend them toooo smooth because then they won't cook nicely in the pan)

Mine make about 4 good sized pancakes.

(I hadn't showered yet today, don't judge my puffy face)

Serve with a small amount of sugar free syrup.

(They don't look pretty when I make them, but they're tasty!)

They are really delicious, full of protein, and low on calories and sugar.
Enjoy!!

Special thank you to Murabelle from Fit Happy for my super cute headbands.
