This Sunday Currently

Currently I am...

Reading: Still reading the 4th Outlander book and really wanting to start Gone Girl so I can finish it before the movie comes out. I put a hold on it today through my library's digital books (love that you can do that now!)

Writing: This blog right now and earlier today it was a shopping list of all smoothie ingredients. I'm going to start having a smoothie for lunch every day in order to get some more fruits and veggies in my diet and you know, combat some of this chub before my big trip in March.

Listening: Top Chef playing on Amazon, Gizmo snorting behind me, and Mike chopping onions in the kitchen.

Thinking: That I had a really great weekend and my body is crazy sore from the last two days of workouts.

Smelling:  Bourbon (and very happy about that)

Wishing: That I had found the time to dye my hair today like I was supposed to.

Hoping: Same as always...not internet appropriate...for now.

Wearing: Black Ann Taylor leggings and a long sleeved grey Harry Potter shirt (nerd).

Loving: That Mike just brought me a bourbon and Q kola. Oh man, so tasty and not lots of calories.

Wanting:  Dinner, I'm so hungry!

Needing: To do my hair and plan what I'm going to wear tomorrow, high of 55 degrees huzzah!!

Feeling: Very happy about how the weekend went and my new burst of motivation and hopeful for the future.

Clicking:  Photos from work that I need to edit before work tomorrow.

My view earlier today watching Mike wash the car after running errands. I've had this view oh so many times. That man and his cars, I swear.

Dear Weather

Dear Weather,

This

is really cold.

And it forced me to wear pants today

even though I hate wearing pants to work. And I had planned to wear a dress just to spite my boss because she yelled at me yesterday about always having to see my knees.  Not because she's super religious or modest or because my knees are gross or anything, but because people in Maryland like to yell at other people if they're not wearing puffer coats, pants, boots, and gloves 24 hours a day.  News flash:  it's warm inside and I don't work outside.  Anyyyywayys.

Not cool weather, pants are dumb, not being a smart ass is dumb, warm up!

Sincerely,

this guy.

Me Today

Me today:

I was super bloaty (I bring the sexy to this blog, guys)
I ate a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner like a proper fat kid
I finally went to the gym again (I've been boycotting ever since Mike changed our routine)
I got sick doing jumping jacks because of the damn grilled cheese sandwich
I kept working out though at least
I almost broke down in tears trying on a new dress because I look like a fat load

The end.

Women are fun, huh guys?

Also, dog sweater!!

This Sunday Currently

Currently I am...

Reading: Still reading the 4th Outlander book and just finished What Remains which was surprisingly really really touching and great; read it in two days.

Writing: This blog and not much else. I don't really write much these days other than for work. I've been writing a lot of stuff in my head lately, but never put it down.

Listening: I've got a re-run of Top Chef going on Amazon (side note: I had a pretty great sex dream about Richard the other night, random?)  and to Mike walking around getting ready to go vacuum out the car. A few minutes ago, we were listening to The Hobbit...for the second time in a week...we're super nerds.

Thinking: That having an actual full work week next week is going to suck!

Smelling:  Wet dog on my shirt (they got baths today).

Wishing: That I had washed my hair this morning so it'd be done for work tomorrow.

Hoping: Same as always...not internet appropriate...for now.

Wearing: Black Ann Taylor leggings and a long sleeved, grey shirt with a cat wearing a beanie on it that my sister got me for Christmas. It's awful and amazing.

Loving: That Mike just gave me a birthday present early and it's Lego Marvel Super Heroes! Score!

Wanting:  Motivation. In so many ways.

Needing: To get off my ass.  In so many ways.

Feeling: Excited to go play my game and a weird stabbing pain in my side that I'm convinced is my kidney shutting down, but I'm ignoring it. (Don't read that part, mom)

Clicking:  Nothing, off to play Legos!

Campus Book Rentals

I don't do sponsored posts on here often because this is a pretty small potatoes blog  and no one is frantically e-mailing me trying to copy my style (leggings and top knots count as a style, okay?). But this one is for a company I actually use and like and think are pretty awesome. So enjoy!

Campus Book Rentals is a pretty awesome little company that allows broke college students to rent their textbooks for the duration of their classes for tons less money rather than buying their books from their on-campus book store. I saved hundreds of dollars using this company during grad school. It was seriously insane what my college was trying to charge for my books. I was so relieved when I found out about Campus Book Rentals, let me tell you!

They also do this cool thing now called Rent Back where, instead of selling your book back to your on-campus book store for no profit at all, you can use Campus Book Rentals to rent your book out to other students causing you to eventually make a pretty sweet little profit! I so wish this was around when I was forking out tons of money for my undergrad textbooks.

On top of the fact that this company saves you money, can help you make money, and are super easy to use, they are also charitable which makes me love them even more. Campus Book Rentals makes a donation to Operation Smile for every single textbook rental they receive. Operation Smile is an international medical charity that heals children's smiles, forever changing their lives.

I love finding companies like this that are not only out to make a profit, but also to help others. So check out Campus Book Rentals and tell everyone you know, they really are pretty dang great!

Life Lately via my iPhone

Oh what a cop out of a post. But you will read it and you will like it!

I've completely gone 'round the "never wearing leggings as pants" bend. But to be fair, all of these outfits were from when I was pretty much alone at work and no one cared. And the last one is jeggings. That's not better, is it?

I cut my own bangs and later this week I'm going to attempt to dye my own hair (cheap ass).

And took some annoying self timer selfies.

And wore the cutest/nerdiest shirt ever.

Mike had a lovely little lazy birthday (New Year's Eve) with Five Guys, tons of wine, cake, Hobbit, video games, and just general laziness. It was perfect.

2014

I don't really like the idea of New Year's Resolutions. I think a lot of people use it as an excuse to start a new diet or exercise plan that they completely quit by February. If you're going to make a positive change in your life, you can start it any day, it doesn't need to be January 1st. But, who am I to make fun of people for doing something good for themselves, right?

I do like the idea though of looking at this new year and thinking of how I want it to go. Though I really have such little control over how it will inevitably go, I can make conscious choices that can possibly help shape it. Best intentions and all that.

So 2014, this bright, shiny, new year, I hope...

* To get a new *** (some things you can't REALLY say on your public blog, now can you?)
* To be ******** (whoops, not that one either)
* For my mom to visit us
* To drink less (my raging champagne headache this morning agrees)
* To be running again like we were back in California (my fat ass agrees)
* To own more pants (I know how stupid this sounds, but I own like 2 pairs of good pants, it's a problem)
* To have at least a little better idea of where we're going to end up living
* To continue to be thankful for where we live now and the different turns our lives have taken
* To buy more from the local farmers (we always end up grocery shopping too soon and missing the good markets)
* To take the dogs on longer walks
* To make some friends (this one's a pathetic one, but for reals, we need to)
* To blog more and put more effort into it
* To read more and watch less tv
* To just do more. Couldn't we all just do more? Get off my ass more, read more, blog more, work out more, all that.

And on top of all that I hope to not...

* Get down on myself as much
* Get as frustrated at work
* Stress about the future, just let it happen
* Think as many negative thoughts
* Be demotivated both in the gym and at work and just anywhere

So...let's do this 2014 shall we? And really, not just 2014, but from now on, eh?

Hoping this year gives me answers.
